Have You Any Remedy For Sciatic Nerve Relief?

I am enduring week three of sciatic nerve spasms; the spastic pain that stops you in your tracks. What, if anything truly works to loosen such a large nerve? I am physically active at work and drink a lot of water and tea.

There is a stretch you can do. It helps a lot. Click on the link. Good luck.

don’t ever let a chiropractor crack your back or neck, ever. it is not the nerve that needs to be ‘loosened’; the sciatic nerve can be irritated from 2 areas; it is a nerve bundle that get contributions from the back at the nerve roots L4, L5, S1. when you lift something suddenly and do not anticipate the load, you can cause the back muscles to spasm; when they spasm, the nerve roots can be compressed; when the 3 nerves join to form the sciatic, in 20% of us, it travels through a muscle called the piriformis (underneath the buttock/in the pelvis); if that muscle spasms it will pinch off the nerve; in most it will come up and over the gluteus muscle and sit on it superficially, right over where your pocket would be. however you hurt yourself, there usually is one position of perfect, where things calm down; first to get some relief, maybe 10-20% relief if you are lucky, the side of the pain lay on your bed and drop that leg down, that will calms things down

I have the same problem. I wish I could give you a magic cure, but I can’t. Three weeks is about the longest I have went in pain myself. The first time this horrible thing happened to me, I swore that if I could find a surgeon that would cut my spine out, I would let him. A lady friend of mine has this to the point of bringing her to her knees. She went to the ER and demanded an epidural “like botox”. She said it’s the only thing that works for her. I know that when my friend had a baby, they gave her an epidural and she said she couldn’t feel a thing but a slight pressure. I don’t think I could convince a doctor to shoot that stuff into me on demand. But at times I would do anything to get rid of the pain. Good luck, my friend.

I feel for you! I went through 5 years of it before I had to a spinal fusion. Massage therapy and swimming were the two things that helped the most. Hope you feel better soon!

Go see a chiropractor. Mine says that sciatica and migraines are the two easiest things to “heal”. It will totally be worth it I promise – and a natural remedy to boot!

The most permanent type of relief there is is chiropractic care. Visit a chiropractor as soon as you can.
