First of all, you DO know that you have sciatic nerve pain from your back!!!!! That is why your leg becomes numb, it has to do with your spinal cord……….i know all this cause i have severe scoliosis and degenerative joint disease….Last yr. i had to 2 major back surgeries and they finally ended up fusing my lumber (lower back). My legs still hurt bad mainly at night. So i am on some pretty heavy pain pills Fentynal patch and vicodin for breakthrough pain. I was doing physical therapy for my back when my hip starting killing me and my knee blew up so i went to this ortho Dr and said i had to have a total hip replacement!!!!!!!!!! So 2 weeks ago i had knee surgery…it was minor day survey….i had to have this done cause i can’t do rehab on my hip with a bum knee!!! OH! A chiropractor will not TOUCH me cause of the lumber surgery!!!! I recommend you go to a specialist….a spine surgeon ASAP. The longer you wait the worst it will get! And also to a Pain Specialist or Pain Clinic!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you start to feel better soon….oh! and you can have sciatic pain can be in both legs…..and i KNOW how bad it hurts so GOOD luck and get well soon.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A chiropractor may be able to help this. It really depends on how the nerve is being pinched. Chiropractic is the least invasive treatment as it works by realigning the disks and verterbrae in the spine. This might remove the pressure from the nerve.
Alternately, allopathic medicine might have some options. Injections or pills may deaden the pain. Orthopedic surgeons may have a surgical option. These aren’t always successful. I’d try chiropractic, and go from there. If it doesn’t work, all you’ve lost is time. If it does, you’ve saved yourself potential surgery and nerve blocking techniques.

The best first thing to do would be to ask your pharmacist if
he/she knows of any good otc meds that’d help. Of course,
if it’s a really severe case, then it’d be better to consult you
    doctor.
By the way, some very good online sources for any info on medical conditions of any sort are:
    medicine.net, webmed.com and wellness.net
    Best of health & luck.

It is best to see your Chronic Pain Management Physician, At your local Pain Clinic…they can implant a morphine pump, to help ease your pain while your running.

Get several treatments with chinese acupuncture needles and the pain will lessen. Really works. Avoid any allopathic MD

Well, if you have never been to the doctor about this issue, you should definitely see one. Not sure what can be done for this issue though. I suggest trying acupuncture to relieve some of the pain.

Your sciatic may be pinched, so you would really benefit from going to a chiropractor. There are a few things that you can do at home to try to elivate the pain, but it is only one for a short while just to return with a vengeance. I have had nothing but good results with seeing a chiropractor. And the results are almost immediate.

I go see a Md and a chiro. Md usually like to give some form of meds in order to take away the pain. Meds usually do not take away the pain, but simply “mask” the problem. Going to a chiro might be a good thing because they actually take care of the problem rather than mask it away. wish you well.

I go to a chiropracter as all a doctor can do is prescribe pills. And stop running until it settles down. You can’t expect it to get better if you keep reinjuring it. I also do ‘squats’ which relieves the pain right away.

    the MD can do :
    a nerve block
    give pain meds
    Medrol dose pack
    PT
    ice/het therapy
and it will keep coming back every so often
